if you have splitts like this ... try and get your cable company to put niose mitigation filters on the legs that go to TV's .. these filters will knock out noise from bad chasis grounds on the TV's and VCR's taht route bad thru the cable because electricity takes the path of least resistance which ...

Try setting your IP up static for a little bit and see if you still loose connection remember that your local provider doesn't want you to be static they eant you to stay DHCP but this will help you trouble shoot if stays fine in static no matter duration of use than maybe your IP is (gulp) shared ...

The more times your cable is split will lower the amount of signal hitting the modem which can take you below or just on the edge of treshhold set for the modem the more negative your signal level the closer to the noise floor you are which can cause retransmision of packets which lowers xfer rates ...
