I don't believe this is an issue. I have many users who travel to London (and the rest of the world) from the US all of the time and have no problems gaining 802.11g access. Remember, the 802.11 is a standard so the ranges of frequencies should be the same.

When you try to connect to your home AP, can you at least get to its configuration page? Recently I was over a friends house and while his AP was runnning hot, no one could see it's SSID being broadcast. The beacon wasn't disabled so that shouldn't have been an issue, however he lived in a large ...

What version of Windows are you using? XP/SP1 had this issue with certain NIC's. Actiontec comes to mind. Try to update your nic drivers and see if that helps. You might also disable your nic software and try to manage the wireless card directly via Windows wireless utility. They could be fighting ...

Please Please Please change the port number you are using for Terminal Services. Everyone and their brother know what port that is and if it's open, you're just begging for trouble. Also, you would be better suited to setup an ACL here. Lock it down! Force anyone coming from the outside to meet ...

:) Hopefully it was a thinkpad with fingerprint and the security chip installed. At least then you know your data is safe.

The only alternative is to check ebay, hawk shops etc... for laptops for sale and look for a matching serial #, but that would probably be the first thing to get scratched off.

What's your budget? If you don't have much to spend, how literate are you with server operating systems?

You could deploy a Linux solution FREE with Email, Collaboration tools, and Web capabilities. You just need to know how to use Linux :)

Yes, I know you're not going to deploy Linux on the ...

This is gonna sound stupid, but have you called COMCAST? The first line of support would have this right in front of them as their level 1 support reads from the book.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but you shouldn't have to give authenticated users full control. If you are logged on with a domain admin account, the permissions for 'authenticated users' should not apply b/c you are receiving higher permissions from the domain admin group.

The ...

Scanners like Angry IP Scanner, set to scour your 192.168.1.XXX range.

I'm guessing you're looking at finding "freeloaders" who are on your network. Introduce MAC filtering on your router, enter the MACs of computers you only wish to allow onto the network. Stop freeloaders in the first place ...

Theres no way of resolving username to IP directly because the users are Active Directory objects which are seperate from basic TCP/IP properties..

You can however sift through the domain controller's security log and look for events listed as #673. The authentication service will log these ...

First, with the router the only way I could think you could do this is to look at your traffic log. You need to turn on logging first. Once you do that, you'll be able to see some traffic but I'm not sure if it will show what IP Address going out that it's coming from.

The easiest and probably best ...
