It was a nice storm to sit in the garage and watch...our garage faces to the north, and this storm was coming out of the north moving south. I couldn't have asked for better circumstances for taking some pictures ...

I remember as a kid being at my grandparents house going through all of their issues of National Geographic (they had them all the way back to the 40s), and being especially interested in the issues that dealt with the space program (Mercury, Gemini, Apollo). Lightning strikes!

There are up sides and down sides to any place that you live. Around here, there are plenty of down sides, such as being downwind from the cattle yards when the winds get really strong. Or heat being triple digit unbearable for long stretches during the summer. But there are plenty of up sides as ...

That's got some really nice abilities with the macro; I think the first baby pine cone works better with the lighting, the second one seems a little too bright. The first one you can really see the detail of the moisture on the tips.

Another reason why I aspire to Sony in the future. I wonder if they have an adapter for Canon glass?

I'm betting that there is an adapter out there somewhere. I had bought an adapter some time ago to use some older non-AF Minolta lenses on my Sony. Had to go full manual with them in order to use ...

Sony's been great for me so far and I like the selection of older minolta lenses that are available to me at fairly reasonable prices. I've got my eye on a 75-210mm f/4 telephoto (beercan) that I may buy here in the next month or so, and all the image stabilization stuff is built into the camera ...

How's your Alpha holding up? I'm thinking of going with an a77 but right now I have alot of money wrapped up in Canon glass.

It's doing pretty well...I've upgraded (slightly) from the a100 to the a550, and the a77 is somewhere hopefully in the near future for myself as well. I can ...

This past week I had the fortunate pleasure of being able to shoot some pictures (well, a lot of pictures, actually) of three key aircraft from the WWII era: the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator, and the P-51 Mustang, in addition to some other aircraft present. All three are cared for by the ...

Great pics. I don't think I've seen that folded wing-tip before.

Thanks :) You see the winglets a lot on the 737 these days, especially with Southwest airlines. They help reduce lift induced drag on the wing. They've only been around for about 15 years, but it seems like a newer thing :)

Fortunately for me, I had my camera with me in my car, and as I was leaving work, I noticed several aircraft lined up on approach into our airport. So, I drove over to where I would be pretty much under the flight path and snapped a few pictures...hope you enjoy :)

North American T-28 Trojan (photoshopped)

Was playing around with photoshop tonight combining a couple of images I had taken in the past for a (hopefully) better sum of it's parts. I had taken a number of shots of a T-28 Trojan at an airshow a couple of years ago, and the image I chose was pretty clear, but just didn't seem to really ...
