Post by EvilAngel »

What gives? How could they survive that? How is that possible?

I left some dinner on the counter in the kitchen and came back in 15 minutes later and the plate was covered with ants.. so I thought... nuke em and make em pop.... nope no go...

Put 'em in for 3:00...see if they pop then...

Maybe they're like pizza rolls...the more you have, the longer you have to cook 'em :D

well, after we dropped the nukes, ya do know that many insects with endoskeletal structures survived within the blast range, so I don't think ANY amount of time will pop 'em....

Jeez guys! you have to put them up higher in the oven. Most microwaves won't cook that low. Raise them an inch or so. lol

Larger, more moisture ridden critters(dogs, cats) are MUCH more fun in the microwave.

Hmm..... microwaves mainly just heat up water molecules, ants don't got much water in them, so thats why. Their exoskeletons also protect them somewhat from the microwaves, so you might have to go for 4-5mins on high.

It heats up mainly liquid molecules because liquid is in a more exicted state than solids. How a microwave works is by exciting the molecules of the things in the oven. When the molecules get excited and move around, they create heat. Therefore, the water gets hotter faster because it is already more excited than the solids.

So, to cook the ants. All you have to do is drop a few drops of water on them. They won't explode but it'll be like putting ants in water and boiling them.

I guess the ants don't have much liquid in them, maybe that's why they don't heat up that fast. They're small too so it might not affect them. Say, if you put a dog in there, which has blood in it. I guarantee he'll cook from the inside.

For eg, if you put a frozen jelly donut in a microwave. After a while, the exterior is still cool while the interior is burning hot. It is because the inside is liquid.

So your dog will be cooked or burnt from the inside while it'll just be a lil warm on the outside.

Try nuking those easter marshmallow bunnies or chicks for about 20 seconds. They swell up to enormous sizes. :D :D
