I need to setup Internet connection sharing between two computers of mine. Im using a crossover cable and both comps are running XP. What ICS do you use ?? or do you know of any good ones ?

i use a internet gateway router...Netgear RT314 to be exact

noo..i make mistakes but look i was trying to tell you he has windows xp on both machines he said that in his original post. Hey let exit1mile help you coldfusion he looks like he knows what he is talking about sorry for screwing up another thread. like i always do.

I use a router

Linksys BEFSR 41...

works good no problems so far..

you should be able to do it using Windows. Like it was mentioned, you do need two NIC cards in the host machine and one card in the other machine to connect.

If you can't get windows to work, you may want to check out Analogx Proxy

I haven't really used that myself a lot but others have and speak highly of it.

If you don't get many answers here, you may want to try in the Networking forum

Piece of string, and 2 tin cans.

Still needing to mod it a bit, I figured with some beads from the bead store, to increase connectivity and speed.

I have used windows ICS to connect a win 98 host to a windows 95 client, and then after software upgrades 2k to win 98, no problem. I now use a 3-com router for my home Ethernet gateway. ;)
I don't know the same things you don't know. :confused:

As was mentioned above try AnalogX proxy

It is an excellent utility...I use it on a 7 computer network..ranging from winxppro to win95 and even linux
