Hosting UO with Internet Connection Sharing

Post by d_manth »

Recently I hooked up a second computer to our cable ISP. I used a crossover cable and Internet Connection Sharing Wizard. I didn't use a hub or router. Before I done this, I could host games for RS and UO, but now I can't. Does anyone know of any settings I have to change in order to host games again?

You need to go here: http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10062-100-1522862.html?tag=st.dl.10001-103-1.lst-7-1.1522862 and get that program to open port 2346. ICS blocks many ports including the one you need to host UO games. Let me know if you need any further help.

Thanks for the info. I sent you an email but I'll reply here also. I downloaded the app. but not sure how to use it. If you could explain in detail how to put the right figures in, I'd appreciate it. Networking isn't my strong suit. Either replying by email or on here doesn't matter to me as long as you reply. :) thanks again!!!

Well, this probably explains my inability to host a CounterStrike game on cable with ICS. I read the readme for this application but am not sure exactly how to use it. Any advice would be welcome.

I have also had this trouble with ICS, I can't host a server on anything. I have downloaded the program and it is vague on what you really need to do? Help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, sorry I can't be of any help to you guys. I've downloaded the ICS configuration program, added a new port map with what information I thought was correct, and so far, no luck with hosting games in RS, UO, or covert. I emailed ubisoft support hoping they might shed some light on our problem. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

I might have found some help on our problem. I downloaded the program from here http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ics/icsconfiguration.htm#V1.5 and haven't had time to try to use it yet, but it looks very promising.

Well....I did it! I can finally host a game on the Zone now. I downloaded that ICS configuration program V1.5 and put the right figures in. After downloading it and installing, I added a new port map. I put Roguespr in as the name. Target is ICS server. Rogue Spear is the description. I then went down to the add+ button for ports. Then choose Port range in the pull down menu. Put numbers 2346 - 2348 in the next 2 blanks. Transort protocol is TCP. Data trans is Normal. Save all that and it should be a go. Good luck and if it don't work, I also put in a port for Urban Ops with slightly different figures that may help. :D

Umm...for other games, I'm not sure what direction you take.

I was also able to host a server for Unreal Tournament. Not only did I host a server but I hosted it from a Computer on the Internal Network. In example...instead of the 192.168.0.1 that has the real internet connection, I hosted it from the 192.168.0.2 the doesn't have a real IP.

If u have any trouble configuring it for a game or want the easy way out, you can click on the link and go to the top of the page then to the left click on ICS configuration maps. These are already configured maps from other users and there were tons of them for games and programs.
