Cloning HDD

Post by aagiants »

I have an old system with a 10gb clunker. I want to put in a newer 80gb hdd without having to reinstall windows and all the software... Is there a way to clone it over to the 80gbb and have everything work the same?

Maxtor retail packages used to come with software that would allow you to clone the HDD.

Some useless info in there, it explains how to install the HDD among other things...

Also some 3rd party software such as Acronis True Image, or Symantec Ghost. But that is $$$...you usually have freebie stuff from your hard drives website, a usually included in the hard drive box if you got a Retail box (not OEM)

The retail solutions are great if you're working on PCs a lot. They offer more flexibility including the ability to save to images.

I used the Retail software PowerQuest's "Drive Copy" before... worked well.
