MTU no longer resets to 1500

After I hit the apply button on the TCP optimizer and then reboot my computer the MTU value stays at 1472. It used to go to 1500. What the heck am I doing wrong?

what modem do you have are you behind a router??

I have an AirPlus Extreme G Wireless Router. I also have a Linksis router hooked up for the Vonage telephone. But I am pretty sure this used to all reset to 1500. I appreciate the reply!
