These new 155 pointers

Post by thepieman »

They are awful..They have been grossly miscalculated as far as point value goes in my opinion. p877_p53mut877. I hope this is a shortlived run and project. MY AMD's really hate them. Taking 38mins on a 2000athalon xp+ and 28mins on a 2200athalon xp+

3 of my best machines are eating those things...more then likely other people have them too. Its gonna hurt.
I really wish they would optimize their exe that it doles out the proper projects to the proper machines according to speed and cpu type. The GROMACS/DOUBLE Gromacs do much better on P4 machines with HT , not sure about the newer AMBERS and QMD's , but the TINKERS work much better on AMD cpus for some reason. If we all had the proper types being issued instead of a 241 point for a PIII 700mhz , which would do better with a 36point or a Double Gromacs going to my AMD machines instead of a TINKER, things would be much better.

I cringe when I see the Ambers! I am running a pair of them right now on two different P4HT 3.00 GHz machines. The 1803 is running 33.22 per frame on one...the 1804 is running 34.18 on the other! Ouch!

P.S. And those are a 69 and a 123 pointers respectively!

Are you running 2 instances of F@H on each or just one?
See, if I saw that on my machine when it first downloads it I'd:
fah.exe -delete 0#

I hate when they miscalculate points on projects.

Hiya Bud,
I am running two instances on all three hyperthreaders...and one single on the p4. The Ambers slay me...matters not whether on a dualie or the single... :( I did'nt know you could delete one? Without deleting the entire program and folder? And I hate it as well...in my opinion the Ambers are totally ridiculous in points ratings for the time they take... :(

Yeah you have to see what particular job number it is 0 thru 9 and type
in the comman prompt from your FAH directory
fah.exe (or whatever the name of your fah file is) -delete 8 etc etc

Its no biggie..it stays on the server if its not comleted and someone else will pick it up till the project is complete. I usually delete the projects that are miscalculated until they re-do them properly

Heres another miscalculated one. p1592_LZIP-1598-1-85_pfold worth 57 pts and taking 14mins:55secs per unit. Ridiculous! when p1476_tet_2nm is worth 364pts and takes 40mins per unit on the same speed machine. A project like
p1592_LZIP-1598-1-85_pfold should be valued at around 100 or so points. Totally undervalued. I know its not about the points but if you are gonna have teams and competition then they should value correctly.

There are some 600 point projects right now ..should be good if you set you F@H to accept the 5MB or larger
