Guitar Players
To any players out there.
I have been working on some Charlie Parker licks (converted from sax to fretboard). Sounds so awesome on a Les Paul through a Black-faced Fender amp....
Any other folk out there swiping licks from the old-timers. I would actually like some suggestions.
Thanks,
david

if its artists you are after, i would have to suggest some legends (i'm leaving out the more popular ones)......
Al DiMeola (did some truly incredible work with Paco De Lucia and Al McGuiness)
Paco De Lucia (see "Rumba Improvisida)
Larry Carlton (some work with Steely Dan and some solo work, too)
Al McGuiness
David Gilmoure (see any Pink Floyd)
Django Reinhardt ("Sweet Georgia Brown")
Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan work also)
Chet Atkins
Andre Segovia (see "The Legend" or "Traeumer")
John Lee Hooker
Brian May
Mark Knopfler
and i could go on and on....
BTW, here's a page i ran into with some song chord progressions and lyrics. i thought i would pass it on.

Some great guys.... No doubt.
I was looking for some other artists (from other instruments) to transcribe. I was wondering if anyone else here may have done it.
"Forever with you. Forever without you...."
try transcribing the piano in "Let it Be" by the Beatles. its a good guitar song as well.
or maybe some Neal Pert or Kieth Moon (sorry... bad joke).
Dr. John is a really good blues piano player.
Wynton or Branford Masallis. Les Caypool (bass). Victor Wooten (also bass) from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
hehehe...... or how about some Tiny Tim? he had some pretty vicious ukulele chops. you'd need to get his falsetto voice down too though, for it to have the desired effect

Charlie Parker? Holy moly!....Now that's ambitious.
I tired transcribing a little Herbie Hanc o c k, once. I didn't fare too well though. I'm not talented enough for jazz. Oh well.

The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaa.....looks like the UBB police caught me. ROTF

Imagine two old punks talking classical <wry chuckle>
"Forever with you. Forever without you...."
very true, David. i think just being a musician of modest sort is what kept prodding to me to keep my mind open to all forms of music. a musician finds it impossible to disregard incredible musicianship...... or something like that
