HERE YOU GO ...
OLYMPUS D-550 ZOOM
This retails at about $399.00 ... but I have seen them on eBay and a few other places for anywhere from $260.00 and up.
I have one of these and can vouch for its excellent picture quality. Nice manual zoom as well as digital zoom.
Below is a sample of a picture that I recently took with this camera.

Sorry I did not get back in here sooner ...
The camera has a Smart-Media card and you do connect the camera directly to the computer with a USB cable (included with camera). The download time from camera to computer is unbelieveably fast. I had a D-340R previous to the D-550 and it used a serial port cable to download it. That was sloooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww . This USB is the way to go.
The 3 Megapixels made a big difference from the 1.3 that I had been using. I am more then pleased with this camera and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend in the $400.00 range.

I can not say that I like it better then any of the others because I have not owned any of the others. I am sure that Olympus is not the only good digital camera on the market, but it is my favorite. I had a regular 35mm camera by them prior to buying the digital. I did quite a bit of reading on the cameras before purchasing my original Olympus D-340R. I read nothing but good about the Olympus cameras. They are very user friendly also.
Hope that helps

Quite a few good cameras out. I have an Olympus D-460Z and it's great. Only problem I see with the Olympus cameras are; noisy zoom mechanism, opens/closes slowly, write speeds are not that fast (uses smartmedia). Other than that, Olympus D series are very nice cameras.
My next camera will more than likely be a Canon A40 due to the manual focus.
