How do you organize them so that you know what's been recorded and what's not and also easy to back up and also organized?

I have them or at least or at least try to have them organized to one folder per artist. been going through lately and splitting it further to one folder per artist per album. But mostly they are and probably will always mostly be one folder per artist. too many incompletes and odd stuff thats not from a particular album.
Back up is all on CD's

Folder for different Language, then artists within each folder. In my case, English, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Most of mine are sorted first by music style (rock, country, classical, etc), then by Artist, then by album...
Backed up on CD (many cd's at that too
)

Most all of mine are by Artist then song.
The only ones I have left were already stored on cd, I have to replace the ones I lost when my IBM died.
