can't run website or ftpsite. all ports report "stealth"

Post by catngo »

my com doesn't have firewall installed. i have static ip. I use to run webserver and ftp server out of win2k adv server before. after a while stop running it. i turn it back on and no one can connect to my servers. I ran port probe from "shields up" and got result every port is stealth. I uninstall and reinstall the tcp protocol but no help. is there any reason why all the port in my comp is stealth?

Oh yes. there is only one port reported open. i forgot what port it is but i can run port probe again and post the port up. but "shields up" said that the port is use for remote something. I have remote administrator installed before but i uninstalled because i think it may have cause the problem making all my ports stealth. but i "uninstalled it" .

thanks you for your advices!

best guess is that your ISP has blocked certain ports, The same happened to me....

I couldn't run a ftp server anymore and i thought it was because of the firewall..... even with the firewall turned off no one could connect to my server, but people on my lan could connect....

After calling my ISP they said that all ports up till port 1024 were blocked (they did this without warning their customers....) and they would not unblock them......

Strange thing is that even when i set the server to a higher port it still won't work..... but i got all my other 'services' are up and running again...

i'm at @home. said that they block port 80 to incomming connection. how do you call them and ask about it? don't tell me that you are gonna tell them that you're running webserver and wonder why people can't connect to your website. also, can you ask them to open it up?

i just called my isp today and they said that they didn't block ports especially port 80. If that's the case, then my server won't open port 80. i just reinstall server again and after run port scan it give CLOSE status instead of stealth. I have my website running. so it should give open status instead of close. help me out plz.

You said there is no fw on the webserver - are you using a router?
