Just in case anyone's interested here are the results (sequential read and writes) with the new Raptor.

2 runs @

50mb 273/203 (50mb results seem to jump around: highest 484/216)
100mb 173/169
500mb 176/177
1000mb 182/179

Best results with ATTO in default configuration

256mb length
195/178

32mb length
478/182

64mb length
303/167

I'm happy with it. $109. It's a price point I don't need to sweat. Definitely faster than the old 500gb WD that was in there.

that is pretty good, faster than my old scsi drives, for comparison, here is my samsung evo SSD...............
