trying to get rid of a message at bootup

Post by 24giovanni »

Hi, I was using a full trial of caller-id on my PC in which most of the features it used no longer work. The caller id appears on my pc which is all i wanted it for.

The thing that bothers is every time my pc boots up saying "thank you for trialing callclerk. Your 30 day trial has expired Click ok to buy"

Any ideas on how to prevent this?

thx

Have you uninstalled it?
Entry in the startup folder?
Or most likely..entry in the 2x usual RUN locations of the registry?

Cat, Most of the features of callclerk stopped working after the 30 day trial periiod, The only part that still works is the notification of the caller and their number. The software is still installed. The author of the software set it up so it gives me the nag to buy it every time i boot up. Is there a way to prevent this?

Download and install Malwarebytes http://www.malwarebytes.org/ for starters.

Have you looked at the 2x typical RUN points of the registry yet?
Or the easy peasy GUI way...MSCONFIG

The nag is hard coded into the software, you cannot remove the nag. That's why it's called Free Trial of full version. If want to eliminate the nag, buy the software or uninstall it.
No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.

Yes, I agree with you Tony. I contacted the programmer hoping he would tell me which file generated the nag but he wouldn't and wanted me to buy it. I can just exit it and get use to it.

thx
