First try at Win 8... not happy

Post by Easto »

Our general manager just bought a notebook with Win 8 and she needed me to transfer some files and just basic setup stuff and boy was I having a hard time. I was having to run back to my computer and Google info on Win 8 as to what I was trying to do. I'm no pro but I think I've got a pretty good grip on Windows operating systems but I was having a hell of a time navigating and just doing the most basic things. I will admit I was under the gun and trying to help her out in between my usual daily mess but still... there was no way I could have done what I did without having to Google almost everything. I understand there is a way to create the old Windows feel to it but she wants the "new" look with the touch screen etc.

Classic Shell makes it useable without a touch screen but being that the laptop has one, I don't quite understand why you had such difficulties in figuring out how to use Win 8. I mean, there is a little bit of a learning curve but not really that difficult to navigate.

Users will get the 8.1 update for free through the MS Store. So it's all good.

Probably had to do with being under the gun at work and I had better things to do. Also, the thing was Ultra Small. I don't know why she bought it. It's not like it was a "work" laptop, more like something you'd have laying around at home and grab when you go out on the deck or garage to look something up. Any way, I had a hard time, maybe just me.
