Help me pick a motherboard

…………….and a video card good for gaming.

I have a Intel 3GHz Duo Wolfdale, four 1 gig sticks of Crucial Ballistix ram and a lame ass motherboard. :irate:


I need a good motherboard and video card recommendation.

With that CPU, I'd look at the Asus P5Q Pro Turbo.

That board is at or near the top of my list, I really like Asus products. Sapphire product is nice too. I’ve owned a couple of their video cards and t6hey remained problem free, driver installation was even hassle free.

Just a note...some of the current higher powered graphics cards are picky about the power supply. Not only watts, but a minimum of XX amps at the 12v + rail. Just because a power supply may be 500 or 650 or 750 or 1000 watts..it may still not provide adequate power on the rail. Example..the 5770 wants at least 14 amps on it.

WoW! I was thinking of getting a new power supply but wanting 14 amps, damn!

That makes my final upgrade take that much longer in order to save up the money needed. I was looking at the video cards too, I need something Blu-Ray compatible. I have the player, I just need something to read the code and play it back. I also connect this PC to my HD TV and stereo to play back video and sound.
