LCD Review

Post by Sava700 »

Look at this people, and tell me what you think compared to the Dell Ultra Sharp 24".... I can get a code to drop the price down to 200$ on this monitor and I'm looking to get two of them most likely instead of waiting for the Ultra Sharps to come down.

were it (an impatient) me, i would jump on it. maybe check the Ultra Sharps during next week's sale mayhem, or wait till after christmas for sales. otherwise, id go with the samsung 'specially since you have the coupons.

Its a TN panel, your Ultra Sharp should be an IPS panel. I would not want that downgrade.

good point... I'd like to get two Ultra' sharps to match up with the one I already have for a dual monitor setup on this comp sitting all beside my other one. Thing is I don't see the ultrasharps dropping below 380$ any time soon.

Which model can you get for that price? 2408 or 2410?

And I should correct myself, you have a PVA panel most likely as your monitors are older, still much better than TNs, IMO.

can't remember exactly.. on the 2408 or 10, but I know the last time I saw it as low as 385$ was a while back but I don't see it dropping below that unless they really do a good xmas deal to drop stock.

If you see the 2410 for 385, grab it! Its the the newer style IPS, H-IPS instead of S-IPS. Further improved coloring and junk.

Anything with an H-IPS panel is gonan be pricey for a while still.

I don't even think they are selling the ULTRASHARP 2408WFP anymore... I don't plan on gaming on this LCD I was looking at either..mostly just for surfing and such, so I wonder if the buy is worth it in those regards.

Just general surfing, not for movies/videos and stuff like that, then ya I can see it being useful.

Well it would still be used for a few video's here and there and perhaps some flash media playback and such... I have a 19" Ultrasharp right now and I want dual 24's on this comp so I'm foaming at the mouth right now trying to decide.

Well it would seem Dell isn't going to carry the 24" ultra's no more so does anyone have any 2nd choice of a 24" wide screen less than 250$/each

Grab a G2410 for $260.

For the price range you're looking in you won't find an ultra sharp comparable brand new.

The G2410 doesn't look bad by specs.

I think I can get that one for 233$ free shipping but I wonder if besides ebay is there a place you can find a 24" ultra sharp new?

Ohh and I want them with a max res of what I have on my current 24" not the 1920x1080

Yeah so I'm not sure of a good alternative that won't cost me an arm and a leg.... what I wanna do is replace a existing 19" Ultra with two 24" LCD's one of which will be on a moving arm so my cat will be able to still lay infront of the window and I can move the screen around him.

I've been looking around and the only place with decent prices on another 24" ultra sharp is ebay, Amazon has them for way way too much. Anyone know of any other locations for them or something similar with the same resolutions?
