Just maybe rock isn’t dead?

These kids jam pretty damn good. After seeing 3 articles about them in Rolling Stone magazine in the past few months I checked them out. The trippy part is the lead singer/lead guitarist is only 14 years old. :rockin:

Honestly it's refreshing to see the young doing this. I'm so sick of death metal.

Listening to Shockwave... not too bad. Question is, where are they gonna get airplay? MTV doesn't play this kind of thing anymore - they barely play music anymore, period. God, I hate what MTV's become. Maybe on Fuse/MuchMusic.....

I hear ya. It was great in the mid to late 70's, then it went to chit. It doesn't even resemble anything of what it once was.

We are blessed in the Seattle area with KEXP. Make it a favorite and listen live over your home system. These guys will introduce you to more cool new music than you could imagine.

Just a few bands with little to no airplay that kick ass - Wilco, My Morning Jacket, Kings of Leon, The Shins, Spoon, Raconteurs, The Black Keys, and on and on. Hell, even Neil Young is still rocking, though you'd never know it through the usual outlets.
When they kick at your front door, how you gonna come? With your hands at your head, or the trigger of your gun?

You mean Rock & Roll.correct? MTV Launched on August 1, 1981...

I also am a huge fan of 70s rock. 80s was not very good IMHO.

Here in CT we have http://www.wccc.com/

They do a homegrown thing where they feature new and local talent. There really good about doing lots of request hours, station made concerts, and even CDs made at a place called planet of sound featuring major artists doing something a little different with a song or a previously unlreleased track.

Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, have never left the roots of rock and roll. Starting with Rockin' Robin and the Wailers in the 50's, the grunge rock of the late 80's and 90's and just continuing on.

I'm proud to live here if only for that fact.

That’s mainly what I’m getting at. How good they are at such a young age. Just goes to show, put down the Nintendo Wii and pick up a real guitar and you might just learn how to play the thing for real.

The singer will have plenty of hurdles to jump, from his voice changing as he matures, to the vices and temptations of a rock star life. If he keeps his head right, he’ll go far, no matter what genre of music he ultimately settles into.

No I meant MTV, but you gotta remember, I was a burn out, so 81 could have easily been 79 to me. Heck all I remember is some really rockin New Years Eve parties and MTV was the main entertainment of the night. Heck man, I'm friggin old give, me some credit anyhow.

With the music/ entertainment industry in its present state, it should be no surprise that interesting acts should be left to twist in the wind while industry house "talent" receives promotion. Mtv has been a dead issue, it is the faux reality mulm like American Idol that it the present feeding pond.

Polka isn't dead either.

Permit a clarification. While rock music is not a dead genre, it does not carry the day as it once did as pop music.

It's not as mainstream, but the choices are still there.

I honestly have not heard any recent bands that have been able to put a half, let alone a whole album together.
