I'm on Bell Sympatico's High speed 5 Mb line, I've never had any speed issues until now. I did not change any settings, or phone companies. Used to always get a constant 4.4 Mb, but now brought down to 2.5 Mb line. I havent called bell yet, but just wanted to see if tweaking will work. here are my stats.

Still slow download speeds compared to what I used to get about 2 weeks ago.
This is my latest speed test:
Image

Compared to what I used to get:
Image

So I called Bell today. And Earlier today it was running faster than it was now. I was getting around 300kB/s. And so I told him my situation. My speed dropped about 2 weeks ago and before that I used to always get a constant speed of about 500kB/s. So he makes me go through the usual tests, unplug modem blah blah blah. Then he tells me to go to the download.sympatico.ca website and download a usb driver, funny thing is, he tells me to download a driver that was not for the brand of modem that I am using. But anyways, while downloading, he asks what the transfer rate was, so I told him it was just under 300kB/s. His response "Sir, you are getting the right speeds. Those are the average speeds for High speed." I told him I understand that its the correct "AVERAGE" speed, and explained to him again WHY I called. His response is still the same "Those are the averages speeds for High Speed." Once again I tell him I understand that, but it's not what I used to get and I just told him forget it, obviously you're not listening to what I am saying and just hung up. Right away the phone rings, it was a 613 area code number. I figure it was the tech guy, didn't bother answering, he called twice. So now I am stuck with WAY slower than normal speeds, and still paying full price for it.

There is one unusual point in your tracert - ping times from your modem (hop 2) are higher than those from the intermediate routers of your ISP (hop 3-5) even when they are located tens to over a hundred miles from you.

Check to see if you are using the latest firmware for your modem.

Also, what kind of firewall and antivirus are you using? They may be causing some degree of stalling to your signals.

Modem has latest firmware installed. The only firewall I'm using is the windows one, and I'm using AVG for anti-virus.

Also some providers if you own your modem they might have to cuztomize the firmware for your modem model make sure your modem is rated for the new speed to begin with. Also with that comapny it's up to 8 they may only give a certain portation of it if you read there faq's on there site the my sate something simmilar

I've been with sympatico for over a year now, this problem just started happening. I used to be able to get 4.4 Mbps because I'm (was) subscribed to their high speed 5 Mb line, and now on modem stats its shown as 3Mb, it wasn't an upgrade, the 3Mb to 5Mb upgrade happened when I first got symaptico.

Thanks for the reply though is there any noise on the line ,clicks and static ? ,or did you move the modem at all?

Keep the modem away from all electrical devices make sure your filters on the phones ,and jacks the filters can go bad which could be a speed drop..

It's kinda odd they dropped the speed on ya there site unless i'm missing something which could be only stats the 3mb plain i'll keep digging.

No noise on phone or clicks. Never had an issue before. I know for a fact I was on a 5Mb line, And should be able to stay on that 5Mb line. Calling tech support and chatting with them online did not help me at all. This is very frustrating.

The NDT test shows your Windows Scaling is turned off. That means your TCP Window is at 65535 or less.

Post your TCP Analyzer report again.

Man, tech support are a bunch of liars!
I did not change the TCP optimizer settings yet, but I did another chat with tech support. and they tell me I am on a 3mbps line and its at full speed. WHAT? so they try and get me to upgrade to ultra. but no i decline, because I am on Highspeed and it is 5mbps as well or as it states on bells website Up to 5 mbps. Yes I know, UP TO, but as stated before I can achieve 5 mbps without the stupid ultra upgrade! this is so stupid! Im gonna email bell execs now. Useless talking to tech support.
