Unable to resolve default gateway

Post by leetstar »

I've recently set up a wireless network and I can't figure out one thing. The router is plugged in directly to my desktop. My laptop and my spouses laptop both connect to the router without a proble. My brothers desktop on the other hand, wich is running a Linksys Wireless G speedbooster USB card, appears to be connecting to the internet, but I cannot view any pages in internet explorere. I did an IPCONFIG and noticed it isn't assigning it a default gateway, i've tried reinstalling several times and even trying ad-hoc mode, nothing works. I get a connection, but no gateway, please help.

You don't want ad-hoc.

Try the suggestions I have stickied up on top of this forum?

USB Wireless Woes

Post by press2esc »

No Default Gateway, no connection... Check ControlPanel-NWConnection and you will likely see a problem (red "X", yellow ! or ?) with the wireless network adapter.

Firest, disable your firewall(s). RightClick the listed wireless adapter and "view available wireless networks.." LeftClick your router shows if it shows up under "choose an available wireless network...".. If not, click refresh the list on the left.

Once you get online, re-enable ONE firewall.

Good Luck
