If you see a veteran Saturday, thank them for their service. Semper Paratus.
From wiki; On November 11, 1953, the citizens of Emporia, Kansas, staged a Veterans Day observance in lieu of an Armistice Day remembrance. Congressman Ed Rees of Emporia, Kansas subsequently introduced legislation in the United States House of Representatives to officially change the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day.
Every normal man must be tempted at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats. I often wonder if the voices in my head ever get frustrated because I'm just too damn lazy to climb that clock tower.

He died 2 years ago, I was one of the 7 people at the funeral, where I found out that he participated in the Olympics for sailing or something of the sort. He was a very cool guy- mowed his yard every day.
What a priceless memory and gift that is for you! I so love our senior citizens, with veterans and their stories leading the top of the list. They are walking, breathing history. I always loved our gatherings at the American Legion, and used to shoot pool as well for the V.F.W....some of my favorite times.
Had a killer Pig Roast in the back yard. Several partied out servicemen were past out in the back yard. The women folk were happy in the living room. Kids had a four machine X-Box Lan party in the family room... until some of us guys came in and took over... Halo still Rules! It's been a good weekend so far.
