cant connect with laptop

Post by draboo »

I have a Compaq Evo N600c with a Dlink airplus dwl 650+ adapter and am attempting to connect to a Linksys WRT 54G wireless router. Is this possible to do considering the different brands of router and card, and are the two even compatable? I ve been messing with this for a few days, with no luck. I did connect thru a hardwire with the router to the laptop, but no luck using the wireless. SSID s are the same as are the channels. I tried both infrastructure and adhoc. Allowed windows to find the settings ,and did it manually. I finally did get the adapter to start working, but the router wont accept the signal.

the lappy has Win 2k installed. The one wireless connected puter now has winxp.

Thanks,eh? :)

run the ipconfig command and post your IP....

START>RUN>cmd>OK....
ipconfig (post your ip & gateway addr....)
IP Address ...... 192.168.
Default Gateway...... 192.168.

If 0.0.0.0 or blank, disable ALL your PC firewalls & check (control panel) network connect - your nic is probably disabled. If enabled, enter

ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew
