Disregard This Thread
I have heard it stated by the citizens of other nations that Americans are blinded by their own ignorance. That, in the undeniable truth of the mistakes which the American government has made, we had had the opportunity to acknowledge these errors in judgment, but instead we pretend as though we make no mistakes at all -- that every endeavor we pursue is correct, true and blessed by the almighty himself.
A man from Germany made a comparison that was a bit shocking. He said, “If the people of Germany were like that of America there would have been many more Hitler’s.” He went on to say that, “Germany, in realizing its mistake and not wanting to repeat it, needed to change.” This really has me thinking of where my view of the world originates.
When hurricane Katrina hit and America’s disaster was beamed across the world I was truly interested in seeing the response from other countries. To be expected, the nations with our excrement on their noses were present. To my surprise 1,600 medics and doctors from Cuba were turned away. It made me think more about Cuba. Is our grudge against Castro truly worth hurting this tiny little country? Would life be better for the people of Cuba if we were to admit our wrong, lift the embargo, and let these people live in peace? If they have a problem with their government shouldn’t they work it out for themselves?
American’s are hated throughout the world. I am not stating something new, and I am sure no one will be surprised by that statement. I am also NOT saying that we should change only because we are hated in our global community. But should such extreme hatred be a sign that something is seriously wrong with the way we govern ourselves? Can we do something about this?
ACTION! Is there such a thing when it pertains to change in the American government? Are we so blinded by our own affairs and consumed with our possessions that we have become submissive to any injustice perpetrated by our government, which continues to, blatantly and without regard or conscience, carry out these wrongs in OUR names?

Our Embargo of Cuba doesn't affect them much. They have gone on to make friends with other countries. People go there for sightseeing and such from all over the world including the USA, but US citizens usually have to go about it in a roundabout manner. The embargoe should be lifted at this point , as its a small country and they are hardly a threat to the US.
