Putting names on rep points?

Post by De Plano »

I think names should be attached to rep points. If your willing to give a rep point then you should be willing to have your name attached to it.

It would cut down on the negative rep points for personal opinion differences and have it lean more towards actual valid feedback.

I think it should be done without tellling folks either ;)

Just a suggestion, I tried looking for the thread about rep points and didn't see it. (OK, I did that after I typed this out, but at least it was before I posted it :D )

I concur.

I do believe you can do this, but it would require hacking code if I am correct which I doubt Philip would want to do. However it might be a template edit in which case it's not hacking code.

I can do this, there is an option to make it visible... I don't see much point to it though, people will hold grudges, start giving negative rep points as revenge... All that counts (if anything) is the total, and there is only one person with negative reputation on this board. The individual rep points are more of a feedback to you, and they don't have much other significance.

If you really don't care, then disable your reputation.

I dare you.

Thanks for the response Phillip.

I respectfully disagree. There would be so much less negatives given out and I suspect that it would be used more appropriatelly (in my view of course ;) ). It would stop some of this neg. feedback for ideological differences, and make it more for behaviour and accuracy of information.

Either way, not a big deal. Just something that came to mind as I was trying to figure out why I got one of my negs. I figured it would have been nice to have been able to ask why.

Like I said, not one of my concerns in life. Just something I puked onto the boards as I was trying to figure out why I got a negative :) . Figured I would follow up on it (you can't hurl just once in my experience :D )

Take care

(All in all I like the rep points. As was stated numerous times if one person does not like them they can turn it off)
