networking win2k

Can you guys can help me with my friends little problem

T.I.A.

"Anyhoo:
Recently I've noticed that file transfers across my network are *insanely* slow for some of my home machines. I only noticed it after I installed SP4, but then again I never used 2k much before that time anyway, so that may just be a co-incidence.

Anyway, the problem is that pulling any file from any 2k system on my network is incredibly SLOOW.
2k pulling a file from anything else (My Samba box or the '98 machines) is still lightning fast, but pulling a file from a 2k box, whether from '98, Linux, 2k or even being uploaded *from* that 2k box is crazy slow!

It's driving me up the proverbial wall and I haven't found a single shred of nfo on the web about this problem! (There are some that mention the same symptoms, but they turned out to be something else...)

The clincher is that this only seems to affect SMB/CIFS transfers - if I use FTP or HTTP or anything else, everything is fine!!

Has anyone come across a problem like this before??"

try dropping your network card down to half duplex - i've seen this on a number of occaisions and it seems to solve the problem.
