As I have said in my previous posts since being a paranormal research investigator, going into nothingness, is definitely not one I can believe.

Mutch, keep in mind everything I have said I know most people will not agree with, but this what I believe. I can be wrong, and sure I dont understand everything, if I did I would not be here on Earth. It took me a real long time to even believe in God, or anything.

One thing I have come to learn is, a lot of people worry so much about death, and why people die, and why bad things happen to good people. My point is do not focus on death, live for now. Look at the positives in life, try not to focus on the negatives too much, and just be the best person you can be while you are here.

you have free will to do what YOU want. wither your choices are bad/good, they are still yours. God will not interfere, because thats what free will is (the action of making your own choices).

So, if god interfered with him committing suicide, then ovbiously there is no free will there. Just like your choice to believe in him or not, he will not make you believe, you have to make your own concious decision to follow him.

God is ultimate ... alot of the things he does are so vast, that our human minds arent even capable to comprehend what he can do.

The one basic reason that i do not like evolution is that it is based on "chance". The chance that possible something mixed with something to create single celled organisms, which eventually turned into humans ??? (its ok ... im just making a statement.)

The guy with the beard and 6 days of work. No.

A driving force behind creation regardless of form, purpose or intent. Yes.

I voted undecided because I beleive that the moment of creation is as close as one can come to describing God. And everything in existence is a product of that moment, so...Ouch my brain! :D

Hey guys, just want to express a few thoughts.

This thread has 755 hits and 85 posts in about 9 hours. I think that is terrific activity. I want to thank all of you who have participated thus far.

To those of you who are ready to "throw in the towel" I humbly request that you do not. You guys are engaged in a wonderful dialogue. Reminds me of a college seminar with passionate participants. Don't walk away just because others disagree with your point of view, nor because you may think that others don't understand your point of view.

Take a step back for a moment. Read this thread from the beginning, not as a participant, but as an objective forum lurker. Take a really good look at what you've accomplished here. It's quite impressive. You're exchanging ideas and challenging not just others but yourself as well. Look at the topics you've covered; birth, death, free will, reincarnation, philosophy, history, war, morality, etc. Do you see where you've taken this topic? Do you see the value of your continued contribution?

Let's keep this thread going. I have a feeling that by Saturday evening we will have delved into physics, mathematics and astronomy. I'm actually surprised that this thread hasn't touched on science yet.

BTW, so much for this thread going 0-train wreck in T-45. :p

axtrader: The hardest part about this thread, in my humble opinion, is to remain civil and open to everyone's ideas while still trying to prove a point.

For example, my story. I was scared that it would be taken the wrong way and the thread would have been shut down. But it wasn't, and davy really came through on that. :)

So it's not really a matter of throwing in the towel so much as not wanting things to become inflamed, I believe.

:)

*a-hem*

As to science, look at my first post where I mentioned dimensions. Nobody jumped on it, but it was science. ;)
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

Let's just say that I believe in a higher dimension, one that is beyond our realm of perception. It has always been there and has never responded upon command, only reminded me that it was there. The name you give it is irrelevant to the power it contains.

Yes, I believe!

Paft, yeah I know where you're coming from. That's part of the challenge to yourself I was talking about. It's hard to remain open minded when you think or feel that your respondant is not open minded.

There's no reason to get inflamed over anything posted here. None of us are going to change anyone else's ideas, and why should we want to. Just exchange ideas and question one another with humility. The bottom line is none of us have all the answers when it comes to matters of theology. Consider the following verse from The Qur'an:

"And if all the trees in the earth were pens, and the sea with seven more seas added to it (were ink), the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Surely Allah is Mighty, Wise." (HQ 31:27)

Yes Paft, I did notice your mention of dimensions. And you're right, nobody wanted to discuss it at that time. In the words of my friend LT-73, "patience grasshopper". The time to delve into science will come. :)

Well if we take science back to it ultimate begining we reach the moment of creation (The Big Bang). What the causatative event that triggered this is one of the goals of many of the greatest minds in astrophysics.

So many theoties exist, such as the seperation of dimensions and the search for the graviton to name a small portion.

I don't beleive that the rational study of science in anyway discounts God, whatever form He, She or It takes. Rather good objective science is the most important endevour that humanity has undertaken.

I just find it saddening that many times throughout history religion and science have been at odds, even at times been foes.
When both religion and science are just different ways of trying to understand something as fundemental as creation.

...Just a few musings from a back porch philosopher... :)

ColdFusion, the Muslims have a saying, "Islam is Mathematics, and Mathematics is Islam".

Here are a few things I've learned about the relationship between numbers and theology. I hope you find this stuff interesting.

In the parlance of numerology (what I prefer to call theological mathematics) God is represented by the number 1. All monotheistic religions and most of the ancient religions of Africa, Meso-America, and Australia profess that "God is One". In fact, if you study the languages of many ancient cultures you'll find that they use the same word for "God" and the number "One". So in the language of numerology:

God = 1

Man is assigned the number 6. There are many reasons for this. I'll give you a couple. If you stand upright, how many sides do you have? Front, back, left, right, top, bottom. You have six sides. Geometrically, man is a cube.

The number six is used many times throughout The Bible to symbolically represent man. To further demonstrate the 6 - cube relationship, and so you don't think I'm nuts, consider Revelations 13:18 "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six." That would be 666 which can be viewed as 6 cubed. It goes much deeper than that, but for the purposes of this discussion I'll leave it at that.

Additionally, The Qur'an makes reference to developmental biology in Surah 23:13-14, wherein it speaks of 6 distinct events (6 stages of development) that occur in the womb from fertilization to birth. Here again we see the number 6 associated with man. Okay, so in the language of numerology:

Man = 6

Okay, so now we've solved for variables 'x' and 'y'. Play around with the numbers and use your imagination, see what you come up with. :)

That would explain the "holy number" at least.

1 (God) + 6 (Man) = 7 (Whole?)

Supposedly man is the body of God, and when we die and do the celestial orgy or whatever it is to join with him we make him complete?

*shrugs* It's a good corrilation, but I don't exactly see how that means anything..?

We have proof that the big bang occured.. We don't have actual PROOF that god exists.

I am undecided. I used to go to church when I was little. I used to pray every night as well. I think more scientifically. I believe in the big bang but, who's to say (or not to say) that the big bang was not caused by God? I have a hard time believing in an all powerful being. I need proof. All we are is dust in the wind.......

Heh, well not 100% fully accurate proof. It has holes that cant be explained. Some may say, "you wanna see proof?, look around you :D " (actually i just made that up haha)

Or, if you asked a scientist the same question. But asked him if there was proof about the bing bang. He could say look around you, and since there is proof that we evloved, from single celled orgaisms that would seem the logical way to think about it.
