All it does is move it to another location..but it's still under the roof of Speedguide.
So get rid of it completely? If you see a religious or political post delete it immediately without warning without question. And I don't mean merely lock it...delete it, I believe you have the technology. Cmon its not rocket science here. How many good people do you want to loose before you act?
And by "you" I don't mean you personally I am referring to all speedguide management.
There is a wealth of religious and political websites on the internet. This is or should NOT be one of them IMO.

Personally, I like the fact that we can debate both politics and religion openly. At the end of the day, people need to be able to sit back and realise that they're just that, discussions and opinions. I've been in many a heated debates and online "arguments" and honestly, I haven't held a grudge.

I looked at the thread in question and in all fairness, it wasn't a direct insult against Larry.

Hi to all

I had to go to town today to take my Mom to her Docs for a checkup. All is well there thankfully.

I had no intention of making a big thing out of this, nor do i wish to bash a place in which i've had so much fun, learned all my little brain could hold and enjoyed the camaraderie of so many fine folks.

This was not an easy decision and its been on my mind for sometime now. The last post was simply the final straw.

Simply put i've not been as eager to come here everyday as i once was. The endless sniping and lack of respect shown by some has made it difficult to enjoy visits here for me. Getting too old to argue i guess.

This was not directed at me, but at other members, still it grated on me.

I come here to have fun, not engage in argument. It seemed there was less and less of the first and much more of the second as time went on.

I have a thick skin and can take all thats thrown my way, but i cannot abide a lack of common courtesy as shown by some here.

Hope you understand and Thank You All for the kind words and your friendship.

I will not return.

regards

Personally I don't involve myself with them so I could care less. But most of the people in question "can't discuss" without harassment or worse.

So why not put a poll up mods and let the people of speedguide decide if they should go or not?

Would you guys please just knock it off? Could you please keep just this one thread free of spam and pointed posts? Haven't you just read what Larry posted? C'mon, just show a tiny piece of decency and respect, will you?

I don't mean to sound sanctimonious, I've made ill-spirited posts before and am far from holy. But I do have the decency to ... well not do this. Not here, not now. I'm trying really hard not to use harsher words. It may be the internet, but it's still real people on the other end. The internet is a tool to connect people. :irate:

Larry,

I'm sorry to see you leave, but I can see why; I've left the forums for a longer period of time for similar reasons. I'll miss your voice of reason and many other qualities of yours.

By senseless burke attacker I'm referring to the posts when hes not being sarcastic to a member, like just posting a news thread, then someone comes in and says something liek "Hey ya great we dont care about the tinfoil stuff" and then the burke attackers reply with like 10 smileys or LOLs all over going haha burke got owned, when it was obviously not something that major going on.

Sorry to see you go. I didn't read the thread but know those religious threads can get outta hand pretty quickly. That being said, in the last few years this place has steadily gone downhill. We have had alot of members take off, and i for one know i don't most nearly as much as i used to. The forums will be a lesser place without you....sucks....

Man i miss the good old days here! :D

You know.. I do not get into the majority of debates here on the forum, even though certain subjects.. I really don't agree upon, but I think some of you people should show at least a little bit of concern, about Larry's feelings.

Over the years, I've seen more thoughtful posts from Larry, then many of you, so if something offends him, even though you might not agree with him, I think it would be the correct thing to say "I'm sorry Larry, if I angered you"..
I think thats not too much to ask for, and maybe Larry will stay as a result.

My 2 cents.

Larry I hope your not 100% serious about leaving. Please stay, SG needs more caring people like yourself.

100% agree, you can disagree with someone without being hurtful....especially to the extent of them having to leave.

I for one know ive stepped on more than a few toes on here. usually i try to apologized in PM or in public....i hope i've never driven anyone away...

Can't we all just get along....or at least be playful about dis agreements?! :D
