You know its funny all you guys mention that a person should know english before coming here. My friend applied for Student visa, paid all the Non-refundable fees and money to get to the Consulate for his interview since its far from where he lives and he speaks and writes english extremely well. He is going for his masters degree and had chosen English as part of his curiculum...DENIED VISA

why? because the interviewer felt that he didnt need english courses and to please try to apply again at another time with different courses chosen. LOL there goes his 1000 bucks(Which is not easy to come by in a 3rd world nation). I can just imagine some of you today in Liederhosen speaking German or Polish, or with an Irish brogue had your relatives met with the strict policies that are in place now that you say its so easy for them to come here under. Since only a few of you here are actually of Native American blood the rest would still be in the "Old Country" tending sheep or like Prey rolling Havana cigars in Dominican Republic since he was 5. I know Humby is pretty glad Trini's mom was allowed in. :rotfl:

Who said that they had to learn english BEFORE they came into the country? Only thing being said is that if you want to come here and become a citizen, do your best to learn the language AFTER you're already here.

Before, during or after does it matter? He knows how to speak english and wanted to come here, applied legally AND he's educated as well. Still refused.

Maybe the courses he wanted were going to be taken by graduating people. It's happened to me before. I go my money back though.

Oh, and some of our ansestors didn't really have a choice weither they would learn to speak english or not, and retain their culture ;)
