The mosque in NYC
In the latest turn of events for ground zero news.
Good luck finding 72 virgins in this joint.
In one of the wackier ideas to come from the debates surrounding the mosque near Ground Zero, a cable-TV host says he wants to erect a gay bar for Muslims near the proposed house of worship.
"It is an effort to break down barriers and reduce deadly homophobia in the Islamic world," Greg Gutfeld, of Fox News' "Red Eye," wrote on his blog.
"I hope that the mosque owners will be as open to the bar as I am to the new mosque."

For the curious ones, it was reading gawker when I found this story. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

lol that's bull and pretty much everyone here knows it. I got no problem with people disagreeing with me. What I have a problem with is people trolling. That's you. An example of someone I disagree with quite often, but who I got no problem with is Jbrazen. For the most part our interractions have always been respectful and I appreciate the fact he is respectful. He's just one of several examples.Miggs wrote:Typical liberal response, you're starting to sound like yardofstuff, everyones a troll if you don't agree with them.
You on the other hand are nothing other then a troll. Your sole purpose is to offer up viewpoints for shock value.

This does sum up the situation.Burke wrote: This is a "damned-if-you..." situation..

The wounds are still healing from 911. The infliction of those wounds may never be forgotten by some.
Since the subject is fresh in my mind due to a reference earlier in this thread...lets roll back the clock about 70 years ago. How many people are friends with someone who is of Japanese descent? When December 7th rolls around...do you beat the crap out of them and call them names and alienate them? (for those missing the Dec 7th reference....Dec 7th 1941 was when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor..fully bringing the US into war with Japan back in WWII).
For quite some period of time after WWII, Japanese Americans were shunned by the general US population. Even though they (people of Japanese descent) were not guilty of the attack on Pearl Harbor (it wasn't their decision....they didn't vote on it)...they were just "guilty" due to stereotyping. And even still today...if you can find any, surviving GI's that served and saw action in the Pacific Theater in WWII will typically not warm up to anyone of Japanese descent. Understanding of the human psyche can help explain that. But for the average citizen to follow that level of stereotyping...I don't get it.

I really don't care what bad crap you say to me or about me because I feel sorry for folks like yourself who have strayed from GOP principles. I pity you because I know that it's not entirely your fault. People don't have time to research stuff when they have full time jobs, etc. Life takes up alot of time. Couple that with radical factions within the GOP and the mass media twisting and spinning every story...it's no wonder we've lost our way.
Our GOP ship needs to be brought back on course and we can't do that with our current ballast. Sooner rather than later, we have to start throwing people overboard. Unless you take a long hard look at your core beliefs, you may find yourself in the water looking up at the ship. We can't keep trying to calibrate our moral compasses on ignorance.

To me, 9/11 is a sacred burial site, and should be treated as such. Many bodies were simply never recovered and remain there to this day.. To walk in and build ANYTHING near this site is unacceptable. I dont care if it is a damn mosque, or a 7/11.
And the motivataions behind why it is being built there need to be taken into consideration as well. If it is to stirr up trouble and controversy, then it shouldnt be allowed. Its sacred ground and nothing belongs there but a memorial honoring those that died and scraficed their lives.

I can certainly understand that, and at first I agree, but then we end up with more space that has to go unused. I think we end up putting up too many memorials.Diver012 wrote:To me, 9/11 is a sacred burial site, and should be treated as such. No, one's a troll when 100% of one's posts are to stir up fights or egg on ones already under way.Miggs wrote:Typical liberal response, you're starting to sound like yardofstuff, everyones a troll if you don't agree with them.
Looks at JC. He posts a lot of FoxNews propaganda, like you, but he also takes part in regular discussions about his RC hobby and his son's new truck, and food and beer he likes, etc...Despite his assy posts he also makes a lot of good ones and contributes to the discussions.
Your posts are constantly very pointed, very thematic, very negative, and IMO very ignorant of the world around you.

The picture that I posted is an artist rendering of the exterior concept that shows up in many articles that I have read. I am sure the final rendering will be made public sooner or later.JBrazen wrote:I haven't seen any official renders of what it's supposed to look like, but I somehow doubt that it will look like what's in that ad.
An example from the NY Daily News...

I would rather see NYC build a memorial/garden-ish area where people from all faiths could go and remember the people that lost their lives on 9/11. I dont say this because I hold any ill-will against people of the Muslim faith because Christians have not been the poster children for tolerance either but because if you want people to be more trustful of one another and to come together as Americans then I think you should make it a place for everyone regardless of religon or ethnic background. Then again its just my 2 cents.

By and by, great statement.
