take IP add and plug that into the field inside the CP of your router.
My router already has the IP address setup. The WIKI says something about needing to create a Static IP address?? I looked at the manual but I just don't get it. Is there something simpler to do??

with wireless?
I have changed my ip address before, but it was on my laptop that still runs of windows 98. My os right now is 2000 and it seems much different. Also I am connected by wireless, so I have no 'local area connection'. My current ip is 192.168.0.3. Help Please!

the question I had then was about how to change my ip address to one seen in a previous post. Between the time I posted and now I have figured out how to change my ip address. However, it has not done anything except boot me off the web. My question now is: how do I fix the NAT error? I've most of the previous posts, and its all techno-gibberish to me. Sorry for the trouble, and thankyou

I have a Toshiba 2500, no router, PC-Cillian by Trend Micro. I've followed numerous guides, hints, suggestions and I still get the yellow light and a NAT error. Does anyone happen to know how to get into a Toshiba 2500 like you would a router? I couldn't find any info on it and I'm not sure if I need to forward ports in this specific modem, or not... Thanks.

You've got to configure your router to allow for the traffic ....I posted a pic a few posts up ...that's about the best i can explain it ... no trouble at all ...
start>run>cmd>ipconfig> take the ip and plug that into where i've shown it and you should be good to go.

I'm not entirely sure .. but I assume then you're running a software firewall ?
try to allow the app inside the firewall or MS's security center(if running SP2)

I dug around within PC-Cillian a bit more and added the UTorrent program to the exception list and that seemed to do it. I forgot that option was there or I would have tried it earlier

i have a netgear wireless mr814v2 but im not connectign through the wireless

ok ..in your manual you should have been given an IP address to manually configure your router ..look for it and enter it in to your web browser
for example 192.168.1.1 (linksys)
then go to start>run>cmd then hit enter a DOS window will open ....at the prompt type in ipconfig
youll see ip address 192.x.x.x (x=whatever yours is) subnet mask 255.x.x.x(x=whatever yours is) and default gateway 192.x.x.x(x=whatever yours is)
take note of the IP address ...then go back to your router page and look for something like Applications and Gaming or port forwarding.. )should look something like teh pic i posted above ... enter the port for whatever torrent you need (azureas uses 6881 among others) enter that in similar to above ...make sure the protocol is TCP and then where you see the IP address enter the IP you made note of and then save changes ...
let me know

I've also been having this little problem. I really am sorry if I sound like a noob (Who am i kidding, i am), but i have never done this kind of stuff before, so i feel overly cautious. After ransacking my bellsouth modem's site configuration thingy and finding the page to forward ports, I've come upon a Window that asks for the global port range and the base host port. I'm not sure what to enter for the base host port.
As for global range, i changed the defaulted port in azureas to 16881 per the advice of another guide (It spoke of certain isps throttling the downloading of the 6881 port, and just suggested you make a change regardless). How would this change my global port range thingy?
I also can only select between UDP and TCP. I read a few pages back that you should select TCP, but I notice all the port numbers in azureaus are coupled with a UDP, will this make any difference? I'm very sorry for the n00b infringement.
If someone has a moment, can you sum up the basics of port forwarding? I don't really understand it, and i'd like to have a basic idea of what im fooling with, if just for the future.
Thanks much.

Hello, i tried my hardest not to ask for help, just because I figured you'd be getting a bit irate about it now. But I can't help it, it's bugging me so much!
I'm on 2.2meg and i'm only reaching torrent speeds of 10kbps, and thats at the highest!
I'm using Azareus for Mac OS X and on testing port 6881 I recieve Nat Error.
I use OVISLINK router, and my port forwarding details are
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8690/picture23pe.jpg
To be honest i'm not 100% sure if that's my IP, because I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thats the IP it says in system preferences though.
Thankyou!

Mac Huh?...hmm I assume it works in similar fashion then ... try listing all your ports to 6881
I also assume there is a command similar to 'ipconfig' for windows that you give you your IP,Gateway and Subnet mask...I'm clueless about MAC's but it appears you everything needed but just need to fill in the blanks with the appropriate information....source and destination should be the same ports....other than that ...hmmm
oh...and no worries on the help...just kinda bugs when people get the help and then disappear ....again as i've posted before...stick around n stay a while

one more question.
i'm on bt 2.2meg, using a speedtouch 330 ext. modem.
using azareus.
with a torrent from a public site like torrentspy.com i never seem to get the download going more than 20kbps, the upload goes about 30/35kbps, even with a well seeded torrent
( specifically, this file http://ts.searching.com/torrent/520331/ ... US_RELEASE )
is this what i should expect?

Hard to say ... depending on seeds and so forth ... I cap my upload speed and max out the download.....just tweak whatever client you're using. If the seeds are there I get upwards of 300kbps +cccallahan wrote:one more question.

You can try any ports within the range they specified... make sure in/out ports are the same and tcp is enabled....then allow the app inside your firewall
as i said before 6881 still works just fine for me
