Mine came from Star Wars (Phantom Menace). Everyone hated the Jar-Jar Binks character. Even started a bunch of 'Kill Jar-Jar' web sites. I liked the character, so I took binksfan and argued the opposing viewpoint.
I liked the character,

Case in point: Jar-Jar stands guard over my 'puter!

Of where I was born and raised. Been a life long University of Illinois fan since day one. And the number 25 has significant meaning to the basketball program. It was a number worn by a basketball player that died years ago. His name was Ben Wilson and he got caught up in cross fire in the south side of Chicago. Players will wear that number as a rememberance to him and his family.

When I was referred to this site, "in too deep", summed up my condition. I was, and still am, having huge problems with my home network, and was floudering in the depths of my own ignorance of the subject. Nobody here has been able to fix it either unfortunately, although YOSC made a suggestion which maybe has helped a little.

The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

I was very anti-social at work. I always worked better when everyone just got out of my way and didn't distract me. One of the flightline expediters started calling me the lonewolf because I wouldn't run with the pack.

Combined it with my car when lonewolf was always already taken online.

It's a lot better than some of the other nicknames they've come up with for me at work- the Hermit, Cyclops, and a few others not suitable for family viewing.

I just changed my name. The reason for the name is that it is the name of my web site. I would have registered lance.com but it was taken along with .net, .org, etc. So, I have now changed my name to reflect that of my site. :D

See this is very cool if you ask me. It lets us get to know eachother a little better. Good luck on your latest business venture Lance. I've considered doing the same thing myself. After we get a new house I'll have room to explore these options later on.

Oh, my website is by no means a business venture. It's just that I am an IT geek (by profession and personal intrest), I thought it would be a good way to keep up on my skills and a good way of showing my skills (or lack there of) to would be employers/contractors.

I have a very stable job, I work for the military. Specifically I am the Programmer (only one in the state) for an office in the state headquarters. Pretty much I am responsible for the database that has information on every soldier/unit in the Indiana Army National Guard.

I have complete job security. Although I am extreemly underpaid. My predicessor was underpaid for the job and he was paid 1.6 times my salary. This situation is undergoing attempts to be rectified but, there is no final answer as of yet.

Anyone from SG work at National Guard Bureau in D.C. ? If so hook me up!!!!!

Value added reseller. They build computers, networks and usually offer service maintainence contracts too. I think YoSc does that. I know Bump used to.

heh, my fear with having an advertised business is that I would not bring in enough to cover the cost of having a business and would get slaughtered in taxes.

So, I just do it all for friends and then their friends and their friends friends, etc.

usually I do it for nothing or next to nothing especially the small jobs. I just request that they let me put folding on their computers. Whichever version they want to run.

I guess that after a little while most of them decided to change the screensaver.

and I set their homepage to my site too. But people change them a lot, except SGers. I keep my homepage at SG.

Brembo makes brake components. I had a set on my Acura, and I was asked to provide an email name when I got cable. The box the rotors and calipers came in was sittin there. So brembo was created in that quick moment. I've pondered havin my name changed to Dan, or Daniel on here, but brembo is a name that most folks recognize ya know?
