naughty girl.
Well as a future Law enforcement officer, Ill want a competent off duty weapon. If Im going to have a gun in the house, kids, wife, whatever, Ill want a gun that wont just "point and shoot." Ill have a trigger lock and safety for it.RoscoPColtrane wrote:yeah but for HOME defense you might not be thinking clearly, and with the revolver you point and shoot. Don't have to worry about if there is one in the chamber, if the safety is on (non glock i know). What are you gonna be concealing it for for home defense?
And while your wife is fiddling with the trigger lock and trying to chamber a round, the boogie man will kill her and your kids.Loonatic wrote:Well as a future Law enforcement officer, Ill want a competent off duty weapon. I was raised in a house loaded with guns, and I NEVER concidered picking one up to play with it. My dad taught me how to shoot at a very young age and showed and described to me very clearly what would happen to a human if shot, by demonstrating what a bullet would do to a 2 x 4, a 55 gal drum, pumkin, ect.... It is all in the education, imo. I would never lock the guns up with trigger locks. Now I am not against placing the gun in a safe place, but when the time comes where the weapon is needed, I do not want to be delayed by...."where is the damn key to this lock" or "where are the bullets" or "I pulled the trigger and nothing happened (not chambered)"
Just my .02

Wow - you really compare the two? Gay marriage hasn't accidentally killed any innocent bystanders - at least to my knowledge.RoscoPColtrane wrote:some people are extemely close minded about guns. I find it funny tho that 9 times out of 10 these are the ones asking others to be open minded to gay marriage/ abortion and such.

my SS guy said that when he was doing a little surveillance, on Dec 6th that a blue or black truck was backing out of my driveway as he was coming around the corner ... my wifes car was in the drivaeway as well .... a month ago i caught a blue or black truck a block over flashing his headlights and when i started to run after him he started his truck and backed into the nearest driveway and took off .... coincidence ... i doubt it ...Debbie wrote:Hey Nic, keep us posted!
I don't think you're nuts. I just don't want to get shot for sitting in my living room watching TV.RoscoPColtrane wrote:Hey San Fran eh? go figure. I didn't say they are comparable im just talking about peple being close minded to what they feel is right and just. I feel i have a RIGHT to use and own firearms. YOu feel you have a right to have sex with those of the same sex....You think im nuts, i think your nuts....thats the comparision i guess.

I believe you have the right to have a gun. I believe I have the right to not worry about getting killed by you.
Believe me, I'm not anti-gun per se`(again, I don't see why civilians need military equipment). At the same time, I don't see how gay marriage could possibly pose a danger to others]possibly [/I] could. I therefore was curous as to why you would compare the two. Being open minded and valuing personal security are totally different things.
I'm straight and don't like guns, but for me, it's all about respecting everyone's rights. The right to defend yourself, the right to love and the right to live.
It sometimes seems that liberals are interested in protecting everyone's rights, but many conservatives are interested in only protecting their own - even at the expense of others'. But that's just my observation.
There is a difference between Assault rifles and what is required for self-defense. I loved the arguement that armor piercing rounds are needed for hunting...RoscoPColtrane wrote:If you take 'military' equipment off of law abiding citizens you will then have nothing but criminals armed. Then they will be free to do as they please. Considering what San Fran just did about everyones right in that city, i would say there is a good chance you will have a first hand look at this...![]()
Glad that cities/states should have the ability to change amendments to the constitution when they see fit....![]()

A gun can be an M16 or a .38. I don't understand why civilians need an M16. Military weapons (like assault rifles) penetrate walls better than non-military (handguns, shotguns, etc)wee96 wrote:Guns arent only used by military, they are hunting tools as well. There are also sports such as skeet shooting, which obviously require a shotgun. I cant stand it when people use the whole military vs. civilian stuff about guns. Everyone has the right to have a gun, thats one of the things made clear in our countries creation.

I agree and was possbily over-simplifying - except for hunting deer in flak jackets, any other reason to have the weapon and/or ammo that can pierce it?Bastid wrote:actually this point is quite moot... an M16 is just a particular conveyance, i can get the same round in a bolt action rifle, plus i can get much heavy rounds/ammo for bigger rifles... and may need those higher calibers depending on what i might be hunting...

We are not talking about over-throwing the gov't here, tho - we are talking about discharging a firearm in a residential area. So I guess the assault rifles can stay locked up until the army attacks your town and we can all be happy. Unless they have tanks or APCs or airsupport, in which case this point really is moot.GSXR 750 wrote:this IS a safe neighborhood ... it is a midsize upscale town ... i live next to the firechief for fires sake

Im not putting my neighboors life at risk by owning an SKS. When used for home defense, the round could easily become a problem, I wasnt talking about that. We got mixed up here I think.cyberskye wrote:Exhibit A.
Your justification for putting your neighbors life at risk - "Because I have the right to." No other reason?
