Speedguide Meet this coming fall....at Cats Pad, BBQ, Clambake, Soiree

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

OFFICIALLY CANCELLED

After having so much fun in Detroit meeting some SG'rs, I'm thinking of having a party at my pad this coming autumn sometime.

Location...104 Cove Road, Stonington, Connecticut 06378.

Sat September 6th...weekend after labor day. Sunday we can go find a Denny's for Noevo and BMED.

Faust...good excuse to visit your mother!

Places to stay list:
Stonington Motel....not many places to stay in Stonington, this one is small, cheap, absolutely not fancy.
http://ctlodgingassoc.travelhero.com/in ... index.html

And in one of the main drags in Mystic, Rt 27 right near the Aquarium and the Seaport Musem, is the usual generic Marriot chains..Days Inn, Comfort Inn, etc etc. Still only minutes from my house.

http://ctlodgingassoc.travelhero.com/in ... index.html

Transportation....yes this one will be a bit more difficult than the Michigan SG meet...which was quite near the airport. My place is "roughly" an hour from TF Green airport by Providence RI, and also Bradley airport just north of Hartford CT. Although each is a similar distance from my house, TF Green airport is actually quicker trip wise, and easier.

There is an Amtrak train station only 5 minutes from my house...right by downtown Mystic.

TF Green to Amtrak link:

Amtraks's Mystic Station:

Car Rentals at TF Greene:

Nice little bar/lounge at the airport to hang around at, perhaps wait for other peeps to arrive to a group can rent a car and head on down..save $$$ that way.

Well, a version of that. We'll pickup whoever gets so drunk they pass out...and throw them in the cove. Hopefully it will be low tide...with nice stinky black mud!

The boathouse is right on the water. But I'm hiding the keys to my boat! No telling what kinda trouble you can get into tearing up the cove at 65+ mph at 2am in the morning lit up like a wild banshee!

If I'm anywhere in the New England area you can count me in. Sept./Oct. makes not difference to me.

There's one that stops in New London CT. That's about 15 minutes. I don't know if there are closer bus stops.

Amtrak has a depot right in Mystic....5 minutes from me.

Unfortunately....no Hooters around here. But a couple of other (subi like) places 15 minutes away near the sub-base. What base is without those nearby?!

the army does not have that mentality, that NAVY on the other hand.........

300 men go out and 148 couples come back. What happened to the other 4 men? They wished they had joined the ARMY to avoid the frequent butt attacks and would not convert to homosexuality, so they were tossed overboard.

I find it funny that my father joined the Army, while I joined the Navy and my brother joined the Marines...

huh uh he did

Actually I am the SIDPERS Programmer. I used to be in Field Artillery but left that and went full time as the Programmer for Indiana.

I really have no grudge against any of the other 2 branches (Navy and Air Force). I am proud that they serve period.

I am wondering though. What city is this we are going to be at?

My Soiree? Southeastern corner of Connecticut. New London is the biggest city near me. Also Groton (Sub/Navy base there). I'm in Stonington, next to Mystic, which is next to Groton, which is across the river from New London.

......................which is across the ocean from Europe ..........................

Ok I wanted to look it up to see how far of a drive it would be, I don't really think I want to pay for a plane ticket and I am not certain about a bus or train. Never traveled that way before.........

According to maps.com it is
Total distance: 833.8 mi
Total travel time: 13.3 hours

This is traveling from Indianapolis, IN to New London, CT

I think I could talk the better half into the trip and she could go see some sights if she likes. I guess it would depend on the date. We will have to wait until that is set.

Hey lance

I would fly with the airfares being so darn cheap but if you and the your better half haven't been on a road trip to this end of the US I would highly recommend driving. ;)

If you decide to drive stay away from I84 it's murderous, even at night. :D
