Steele - Nvidia Driver Help!

Post by Vic Mackey »

rawr! im trying to install new drivers and when i start the setup it says that it has detected previous detonators installed and that i should uninstall it to make sure that the new ones work correctly. i did a search for nv*.* and deleted everything i found. but theres a file in windows/system32 that when i delete it comes back! its called nv4_disp.dll. i cant get it to stay deleted! i looked in the dllcache and nothings in there. why cant i get rid of this file? it will let me install the drivers even with that file still there but it just bugs me that i cant delete it. :D

You should have just removed them from the Add/Remove programs :( . I would suggest using the 42.70 version then tweak your card with Riva Tuner, you can find both downloads at Guru3D.

:) :D

For me the 42.70 works the best, I tried them all and benchmarked them with 3DMark and they gave me the best score.

doh! the 40.72 give me flickering textures just like the 42.82 drivers. can this be fixed or just install different drivers?

I've just been testing the 42.82 drivers and they work great. If you are using DirectX9 then you need to have 42.68 or higher to support it.
