I will start the thread by posting pics of my new computer.
I have made a couple of changes since I took these pics. I have replaced the Trios drive selector for software (System Commander) and have added a ZIP drive (above the media card reader).

how well does it work ?
That is one of those ... however ... I have since replaced it with SYSTEM COMMANDER software. The friend who built this system for me was having some problems with it. We called the company and they told us it was because we were using too long of a flat cable from the selector to the board. He told us we should use the short cable that was included with the drive selector. We had no choice as the hard drives are housed in the lower end of the case. My friend tried over and over to get it to work OK ... but to no avail. He then mentioned the SYSTEM COMMANDER software to me and explained that it would do the same thing ... so I opted to go with it. The reason I even wanted something like that is because I am running 3 hard drives in this computer. I run 2 of the 40GB Maxtors and 1 of the 20GB Maxtors. On one of the main drives I am running Windows ME ... on the other I am running Windows XP Professional ... and the third is used for storage. The third drive is accessible from either system. Just something I wanted to try differently.
I know this is a long response ... but to be honest I never got a chance to really try it out to see if it would do what it said. I have to assume that if the right cable were used ... it should work fine. It is only a switching type box.
