ok ok, so the subject isn't that funny.

Anyway, I notice you keep telling ppl to uninstall everything except TCP/IP in the network protocol settings.

I have earthlink aDSL, using RASPPPOE, win98se, 1500/128 (although i only get about 1150 down

)

I was just wondering if i could get personal help from the masta himself cuz i dont want to remove anything i need

The following are installed

1. Client for Microsoft Networks
2. Microsoft Family Logon
3. Dial-Up Adapter
4. Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support)
5. Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter
6. SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)
7. NDISWAN -> Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter
8. NDISWAN -> PPP over Ethernet Miniport
9. PPP over Ethernet Miniport -> PPP over Ethernet Protocol
10. PPP over Etherent Protocol -> SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI
(SMC1211 Series)
11. TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter
12. TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support)
13. TCP/IP -> SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)

Holy moly thats a lot of stuff, I have a 56k modem installed, but I don't use it cuz i have DSL. I get 20hrs of dial up free each month but who needs it. I don't have a LAN set up or anything, its just this comp and my dsl. Please mnosteele52, wherever you are, tell me which numbers to delte/save whatever. Thanks for your time.

all you need is ppoe software tcpip your nic and client for microshaft windows

, mccoffee is right except for dial up adapter, if you still have a modem installed I believe it will reinstall itself if you remove it.

um, just curious, why is it that when i remove the very last one that i dont need, it removes the

TCP/IP -> SMC EZ Card 10/100 PC (SMC1211 Series)?

and then all that left for tcp is:

on PPPoE I need with out router as folow:
YES: 1,3,6,9,10,11,13 & NIC on 10

NO: 2,4,5,7,8,12

but with router
YES :1,6,11 & NIC on full duplex 100
rest to remove: 2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,12,13 :2cool:

ok, new numbering system :P.. heres what i have now:

a. Client for Microsoft Networks
b. Dial-Up Adapter
c. SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)
d. NDISWAN -> PPP over Ethernet Miniport
e. PPP over Ethernet Miniport -> PPP over Ethernet Protocol
f. PPP over Ethernet Protocol -> SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI...
g. TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter
h. TCP/IP - > SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)

When I deleted g. TCP/IP -> Dial-Up Adapter, my connection wouldn't work... so i then wondered if the settings for b. Dial-Up Adapter made a difference
Those are:

enable point to point ip YES
IP packet size PPP over Ethernet
record a log file NO (thats the right choice :P)
Use IPX header compression YES

im wondering if "enable point to point ip" and "use ipx header" should both be yes, IF those settings even matter. thanks for your help

oh ya, in the advanced tab for
h. TCP/IP - > SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)

allow binding to atm is NO, that a good setting? so so many questions

your observations with Dial-Up is correct
you need it.

do you realy need
actual point D???- I do not remember exactly is it for ISDN?
& you have ISDN???? you not need it.

actualy I'm with router...

I would be return to previous instalation.

PAY ATTENTION
after instalation ISPfirmware settings are acceptable
NO MORE
but
your NIC setting....
it is yours point c. SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 Series)
in advanced
set from "auto detec." to 10
(will be something similar or analogical)

PS yours settings is for 95,98,se,me
but not for xp & 2k two last have build in PPPoE mechanism
and NOT NEED ANY FIRMWARE!!!
