CurrentControllSet
In placing my settings in manually I see there are three folders in XP. Controllset001, Contrlollset002, CurrentControllset. What do these folders do, and do they make a differance to settings.

CurrentControllset is what is being used currently.
The 001 and 002 sets are what was used the last and time before last (successful) boots respectively.
Lobo, if you don't know, it really is all right to say so or not answer.
I doubt it will affect your post count enough to matter.

Hey Micro??
What is your problem? Lobo gave the man the info he wanted. By giving him a link he can learn.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day...teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.
I have been quiet on this forum for awhile. Just watching, reading and learning.. BUT I am tired of different people playing these "I am better" games. Who gives a rat's ass what the post count is? The bottom line is people come here to learn. Learn about new tweaks,, learn how to fix problems,, learn more about these damn boat anchors we sometimes call computers.
Where you and these other people are day in and day out I don't know. I do know Lobo is here Everyday! Helping many people. He has helped me out of some tough jams also.
It is like a damn henhouse in here sometimes!! Grow up!

Lobo - No, you only gave him the front page of the MS KB, not an answer.Originally posted by Travlin_Man

Well over 70% of the questions asked in this forum can be answered there, if one takes the time to look.
That's not an answer to a question, it's a cop out.
I thought you were better than that, guess I was mistaken.

Yes, I agree, well said, nice retoric and the very reason people go elsewhere for information.
You honestly think people come here to be sent somewhere else?
You honestly believe people come here to be given links, not answers?
Instead of giving a simple 1 or 2 sentence answer, tell him to go somewhere else for help?
If you honestly believe that, then maybe the Admins should consider changing the "Tweaking Forum" name to "Link Forum".
Heck, let's make it simpler, close the forum and just put up a link to google.com, then they can find answers to anything they want and no one will have to bother telling them anything.
Did it ever cross your mind that if he wanted to know where to go to learn what ControlSets were he would have asked where to go?
I'm the bad guy because I gave him a simple answer to a simple question when someone else couldn't be troubled to actually answer his question, but instead send him away from this site?
Interesting concept.

Micro, I for one don't give out copy and paste answers. Lobo on the other hand does because he answers most of the tweaking questions here. If I had to do that much typing then I would copy and paste also.
As for Lobo's sending rasin_kids to the Microsoft KB I would have done the same thing because he asked "What do these folders do, and do they make a differance to settings". Just one or two sentences cannot cover all the possible settings and what they control. With a little research he can find out exactly what he needs to know.

Wrong again Micro...
When you give a simple answer to a simple question as you say, then great! It gives the person asking a question choices.
When you feel compelled to make statements such as these

Thank you for replies
Yes I did get the information I was looking for. Thank you to all who replied, even Lobo for the link. It was a little more difficult to find the info that way, but I did find more usefull info in the process. Thanks again for sharing your time and knowledge.
