cyber tweak reg entries

Post by ryder »

Hello ,I have tried the Cyber tweak and actually my connection became slower,but there are some reg entries I dont understand that the cyber tweak enters:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WDMFS]
"ImagePath"="\\SystemRoot\\System32\\Drivers\\wdmfs.sys"
"ErrorControl"=hex:01,00,00,00
"Start"=hex:01,00,00,00
"Type"=hex:01,00,00,00
"DisplayName"="WDM Windows File System Mapper"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\WDMFS\Parameters]
"BufferMultiplier"="512"
"DefaultReceiveWindow"="373360"
"DefaultSendWindow"="373360"
"InitialLargeBufferCount"="50"
"InitialMediumBufferCount"="100"
"InitialSmallBufferCount"="150"
"LargeBufferSize"="8096"
"MediumBufferSize"="1804"
"SmallBufferSize"="256"
"PriorityBoost"="2"
"StandardAddressLength"="96"
Does anyone know what these would do ,is there any benfit to adding these.

Thankyou for any help

yes and these are the settings

TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 373360
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 46670
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 14934.4 kbps (1866.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 5973.76 kbps (746.72 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 18 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

For Win 9x bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside icon on desktop in box that says Cablenut,click on adjuster, in box that says DefaultRvcWindow take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 5314400, 554800, 560640

You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. On help page below in signature, 2nd page, at bottom are Tips, and How to do Speed test :) :)

Yes I was refering to first post, and did you check analyzer to make sure RWIN changed, you have to REBOOT every time you change it :)

Well Lobo I am using the 531330 Rwin setting and retested and seems to be faster in the test now, and I am reboting .
These reg settings I posted were taken from the cyber tweak install but unclear of there purpose.

These are the new settings
TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 531328
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 33208
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 21253.12 kbps (2656.64 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8501.248 kbps (1062.656 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 18 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Thanks again Lobo your always a great help
