2.What is the highest ping you have ever gotten and what kind of modem were you using?
3. My lowest ping is like 500 and most of the time it is in 1000 what can i do to get it lower?
Hope that someone can answer me. Thanks in advance!
Questions about Ping
Re: Questions about Ping
What type of internet connection do you have, what geographic area?
Ping/latency depends on the distance between you and a server. It should generally be between 20ms and up to 100ms for very distant servers. Anything over that indicates either a satellite connection (not LEO), very distant overloaded servers, or issues on the line.
If you're using Windows, open command prompt and use this command: tracert speedguide.net (you can change speedguide.net to another domain or IP address). Each line in the result represents a hop/node/router between you and the distant server, with the first lines being closer to you. If you experience more than 10-20ms on the first hops consistently, this indicates issues with your internet connection, and you should probably contact a tech to work on it.
