See You In A Couple Of Days

Post by minir »

I have to go for a coronary angioplasty tomorrow morning to open an artery in my heart. They have been giving me a battery of tests this past while to try to find the reason for my needing to be on oxygen 24/7. They are not sure if this will eliminate the need but tell me it must be done anyway as it is very likely to bite my butt if not attended to immediately.

Life goes on. I had it done when i had my original attack many years ago so i understand the procedure.

Be back as soon as i can. :thumb:

Just checking in before my departure at 7AM. Nice day here in the 50F range which is nice for the drive in.

Hi to all

Well my tests went well though the results where not encouraging. The specialist performed the procedure using dye and the X-ray machines to see exactly what was going on. They had stated if feasible they would do the balloon or stent procedure at the time if their results showed that to be the best way to move forward.

As i lay waiting they went over the results of the pictures and decided to call any further steps off, so i was taken back to my room. I had of course been given some drugs so i had to stay for 4hours and of course the incisions they made had to be sealed completely before i was allowed to move.

While laying their the nurses where very attentive and friendly and did all they could to make me as comfortable as possible. An hour or so later when i was more lucid the Dr. came in to go over what they had found. Mostly not good news unfortunately.

As simple as i can make it & i was shown the pictures, i have 10 blockages in my arteries. They range from 100% blockage sliding down 95, 90, 80, 75 to the lowest at 40%. They are scattered thru out my heart and in akward places therefore making it all but impossible to use stent's, they also discovered i have COPD in my lung from my days as a smoker. That was news to me as i had a lung removed because of cancer from smoking 18yrs ago. I assumed the other one was fine, nope!

Anyhow don't wish to bore you or myself, they have set up a meeting on Mon. Dec. 16th with a Heart Specialist from Toronto so he can access the situation and see if bypass surgery is at all possible, though i have been told before i could not survive that. However things have changed and they want to get this Dr.'s opinion as to how to move forward. As the specialist said to me "the surgery itself is not a problem, its getting you up off the table afterwards that may be." :rotfl:

Will have to wait and see what miracles they can come up with if any. Going to be a long few days. The options maybe to stent what they can and hope its enough or try drugs, but i am allergic to statin drugs which are the ones they use for this. Anyway we'll see what they can come up with. If ever i needed a smoke its now :rotfl: , Things have a way of working out for me so i am sure all will be well.

At present things are okay, I'm back home and happy as a clam.

Thanks for the Well Wishes. :)

regards

Morning YOSC

I remain optimistic & hopeful of a good outcome. The procedures they have today have improved dramatically from the past so i'm counting on that to see me through my friend. I'll know on the 16th & can make my decisions then. Getting old sucks. :rotfl:

Thanks :)
