I've seen it clear in under 5 minutes......
and I've seen it take several days on a bad disk....sometimes taking several times to get a disk back in shape.
Depends on the health/condition of the disk (as to performance..as we know older drives slow down as time goes on)...how much data on it, how much corruption on it, lots of variables.

Why are you needing to run it to begin with?

Ehh, legit post IMO, though I disagree it's a worthless application.
To second what YESC said, I've seen it run through really quickly and really slowly.

Well I uninstalled CCleaner. This time I ran CHKDSK.EXE/F (fix) from the C:\ command prompt window. Took about one minute. I just don't know what this app accomplishes, and the results flash before your eyes and the system restarts. This time clean restart. Cool. But it still seems sorta a worthless app but that is just MY OWN opinion.

Like everyone else, I have had it run in a few mins to days on a horribly jacked up disk. Defiantly not a useless app. In recover console or vista/win 7 server 08 variants in the console mode. recovered a few BSOD just using /r also give me a good idea if the drive need to be looked at further to figure replacement or serviceability using mhdd

I feel the biggest question here is why are you running it? Experiencing disk issues? File corruption?

What app are people calling worthless?
IMO, CCleaner sorta has its place.
But chkdsk....heck we employ that utility all_the_time...and I call it FAR from worthless. We use it various computers from laptops to workstations to servers nearly every day...frequently accomplishing what we ask of it.

As I stated before. Why are you running CHKDSK? Suspected issues with your HDD (why is CCleaner even being brought into the conversation)?

One should know and understand what a program does prior to using it. And then don't use a program like chkdsk unless it's necessary.

Chkdsk (Chkdsk.exe) is a command-line tool that checks volumes on your hard disk drive for problems. The tool then tries to repair any problems that it finds. For example, Chkdsk can repair problems related to bad sectors, lost clusters, cross-linked files, and directory errors. To use Chkdsk, you must log on as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.
No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.
