Question on 1900 x 1200 Monitor

Post by westy »

I just bought a Hanns G 1900 x 1200 monitor from "the egg" for a sale price of $ 239 (free shipping) and I'm impressed. It's not as good as my Asus, but worth the price I paid.

I do have one issue though, and maybe someone can help me fix it. I can't get the screen to display the entire desktop side to side. If I want to see the right side of the screen, I have to slide the mouse all the way to the right and the desktop will move that direction. I've tried everything I can think of. My work computer has a GeForce 5200 I think. I know, not really state of the art but it gets the job done for what I do with it. The display shows 1600 x 1200, but it can't be right.

Anyone have any suggestions? It works, and I can get around it, but would like a fix if possible

Thanks in advance!

It's almost liKe the resolution isn't supported or something. I don't think a KVM switch is the fix. (A KVM switch (with KVM being an abbreviation for keyboard, video, or visual display unit, mouse) is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse.)

And have you checked the resolution to make sure its set to 1900x1200? I don't think I've ever seen that issue.

I have the latest drivers for the card but couldn't find any for the monitor. I'll double check tomorrow. I was hoping that someone else had a 1900 x 1200 and would see the post.

Are you sure it's not 1920x1200? You certain that it's set properly under the display properties(I know it's a dumb question but have you actually looked to make sure)? I have a 1920x1200 monitor but have never heard of 1900x1200. Are you using a 3rd party utility to control the video settings?

Also, are you using VGA or DVI?

It is 1920 x 1200, my mistake. I've tried both DVI and VGA. I'll post more when I get to work this morning.

Can't seem to figure this one out... The only way I can get it to fill the screen w/o moving side to side is at 1600 x 1200 resolution.

Looking at the specs for the Geforce FX 5200 it says it supports resolutions up to 1600x1200.
