Help With RAM compatibility....

Post by famous1681 »

I need some help getting the right RAM for my HP Compaq Business Desktop dc5000 series small form factor edition. Here is the link to all the specs to it.> http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11876_na/11876_na.HTML

I wanted to buy some RAM on ebay but I noticed they are all High density and Ive heard high density is really not compatible with all computers... So I want to buy some RAM on newegg but some say that they are double sided, and I don' know much about which ones to buy. I looking for 1GB RAM sticks, but alll I want to know is what to look for when I buy the RAM sticks for that particular computer. I really appreciate the help.

Also I notice that some say Like PC2700 and others say PC3200 which one is better???

Get PC3200 and don't look back...2700 would likely slow down a 800fsb P4 as the ram would run at 166fsb while the cpu runs at 200fsb.

Some have issues buying off brand ram, I have personally never had any problems with it...In fact, I've actually had a set of Crucial Ballistix die on me.

I picked this set for you because it runs @ pc3200 speeds with a voltage of 2.5v and should work fine with your setup....there are others with better CAS settings but they require higher voltage which an OEM PC might not be able to do on its own and you will not be able to manually adjust those settings an OEM PC.

But if you would like to go with crucial here is what they recommend for your system.

I appreciate your offer but Im trying to buy 1GB RAM sticks, total of 3 or four, another trusted member here gave me 2 mushnkin RAM 512MB each, did help but not as much, he also gave me a graphics card but my computer case wouldn't close.

I know Ebay is a bit** to find legit and decent RAM,but here is the link to one I found, but Im not to sure if it's compatible with my computer, please let me know.
