Question about power supply
Question about power supply
Ok i have ordered a barebone kit from tigerdirect featured here http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... eviewStart
and it comes with the case and power supply probably not the greatest board or case or power supply in the world but its gonna do what I want it to do.. my case and memory are on backorder but everything else will be here tomorrow if not friday..I'm not for certain if the power supply coming with this case has the right connector i assume it does because its a part of the barebone kit. my question is what is the difference in a p4 4 pin connector and a 20+ 4 pin connector? the computer i have now i just recently bought a 350 watt psu and its an antec bp350 and from everything i have read online it has the 20+4 pin connector and is the p4 connector thats yellow & black the same thing? If the computer will boot up without memory i wanna go ahead and pop it in this case and make sure it boots and i dont wanna fry it by hooking the p4 connector to the main power connector and making it 24 pin but I have no other connectors that are 4 pin and if something happens that power supply isnt worth a crap will this one work with that board? thanks sorry its so long appreciate the answer..

the added P4 connector is usually something that will it to be used with a 24pin motherboard hookup or the 20pin so you can add the additional P4 if needed. Some systems will have you use the 20pin and then the P4 in some other spot usually on the other side of the system board or otherside of the processor.

Umm no.... if you have a 24pin connector and a 24pin hookup that's all you need.. consult your motherboards manual. If it was 20 pin then we would be looking for maybe another 4 pin hookup on the other side of the mobo.
I have that case, also part of a bare bones kit I ordered from Tiger Direct. The power supply that came in my case is an Extreme ATX 450 Model No. RSY-645. It has both the 20+4 and the P4 connectors. I didn't use it as I had a better quality supply on hand not being used. I just put it aside as a spare. I just dug it out to have a look at it after I realized you have the same case.
I don't know the same things you don't know.

I think what he is worried about is that maybe the power supply in the case only has the 20 pin main power cable and the P4, and his motherboard has the 24 pin power connector. The two are not compatible. I've seen all combinations, 20+4 with and without a P4, and 20 pin with and without a P4.
