ADSL and really bad packet loss (Please Help)

Okay heres the skinny, Seems for about a week now I been getting really bad packet loss. I play Half Life and counter strike. And when I am playing i usually get pings of about 160 then all of a sudden I freeze for about 5-10 seconds and my ping shoots up to about 800. This is happening more and more.. Anyone know anything, and I mean anything I can do. I am at your mercy. I tried setting certain rates and messing with the tregistry, maybe i dont have the right settings, Thanks for the help in advanced.
