internet explorer vs janes combat website

i have a major problem with accessing janes combat website. at the home page, there are supposed to show links to various places within the site...ie; combat net. this is to be found on the far left of the homepage.
instead, all i get is a "box" that looks like microsoft's logo and the links refuse to show up. janes' tech's "solution" didnt work. this problem started about 2 weeks or so ago. i'm using explorer 4.0. is there a browser misconfig somewhere or what?
to those wishing to see whether it's just me or if others have this problem, the url is:

ya looks bad in ie4, but fine in netscape.

seems that java wasnt active. and no sooner than i get java back up and running, the hard drive killed itself. anyway, back up and running, and we're back in business :-)
