Will run great on that processor, Win7 runs great even on early Pentium 4 H/T processors...we have a bench rig at the office running a 2.8 p4 H/T, 2 gigs of RAM, Win7 runs just as good as XP did on it...no fancy aero, but runs smooth.
I'd consider matching pairs of memory though.

That's was Dell's idiocy. Even the tech that handles our warranty work didn't understand that one.YeOldeStonecat wrote: I'd consider matching pairs of memory though.
These machines (25 of them) have become brutally unbearable to log into the domain (I don't control this particular domain). I'm almost embarrassed every time I see someone use one of these.
Once logged in, no problems. Running Office 2007 with Vista pro currently.

Unplug the patch cable to the NIC..and boot one up. Faster?
Regarding the RAM...who ordered them? Ordering them, you go through the configuration wizard..and select the RAM you want in your rigs...amongst other options. Radio buttons were selected to get the 1 gig and 512 meg sticks.....instead of 4 gigs..which wouldn't have cost much more but would have performed better.

My 2 cents..
I got to give credit to Microsoft, that Windows 7 is way faster then Vista. Shows that you can have a good looking O.S. and not sacrifice on performance. I bought my Wife a new computer. Specs: Sempron 64bit single core 2.3 GHz with 2 GB's of ram and a 320 GB hard drive. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit pre-installed.
I was able to get her digital camera, digital camcorder, USB printer and magic jack VoIP all to work. All Windows XP gen. So that was really impressive.
The only issue that I have on my dual core is that I have a gigabyte nic card RAlink , that there are issues with the "64 bit" driver. But that not a major deal seeing how I paid $7.00 usd for the nic card.. I'm going to switch that out with another one that I have installed in my Linux box.
