mouse problems with Win ME

Post by CRoZZ »

hey guys.. Man o man I dont know what the problem is here. I have installed win ME, but cant seem to get my mouse to work correctly.....if I move it quick across the screen it moves erratically....so playing online games makes it impossible.

Has anyone had any issues with their mouse and win ME?

system specs

p3 600
256 sdram
3d annihilator 2 gforce2 GTS
IBM 30 gigs (7200rpm)
SBlive X-gamer
Ms explorer optical mouse (intelpoint v3.2)
viewsonic PS790 19"
nic (3mbps dsl)

For most hardware winMe would have the drivers...but here is a list of hardware drivers that I've installed

intellipoint 3.2 - win ME ver
gforce2 is nvidia detonator3 - win ME ver (6.18)
viewsonic PS790 - win 98 (8-16-2000)
SBlive x-gamer - live ware 3.0 (7-21-1999)
DirectX - what comes with win ME (7.1)

So if anyone could help me I would greatly be thank-full

Um, what mouse do you have?

PS: If it's the optical one, VERY fast movements will always do this

Cmon Doh thats not true. I have the Intellimouse Explorer and it is totally smooth. I also have recommended the mouse to many of my friends and they have all loved it and would not use any other after using it.

What might be your problem is the pointer speed. Double click on the little mouse icon near the clock on the task bar. Click on the pointer optins tab and play around with pointer speeds.
You can also have probs with the kind of surface you use your mouse on if it is one of the optical mice. The surface should not be shiny or clear meaning like a glass surfaced desk or something. Also it should not be on a mouse pad.
These are the reasons people have probs with these mice, not because the intellimice are no good. They are IMO the best mice on the market.

Good luck dude!

Hey Battleship...I do have it on a mouse pad but its the same pad as I used for win 98 with no problems there..( well some before but it was old logitech mouse drivers conflict)but did a rip and tear of all reg settings to fix that issue.

But yes I have played with the mouse settings (speed).....both in the norm pre-install of the 3.20 intellipoint software and with the software installed but still it doesnt work right. My norm settings for windows mouse speed is Max with no acceleration on...and in q2 or q3 my settings are set in their also to increase the speed ( not to much mind u ).

I dont want to give this mouse up its the best mouse IMO also on the market...fits like a glove and moves so smooth....

still needing some advice....

Sory man, can't think of anything other than trying it out in the ps/2 port. Won't hurt to try.

All I can tell you is my good working settings. Pointer speed is about up to 3/4 towards fast. I have pointer acceleration on and it is set to low. And oh ya, its on usb. Try out those settings.

There is no reason this shouldnt work well. Unless maybe one of those reg settings you played around with screwed something up or is preventing you from changeing settings somehow.

Good luck to you and the Canuckleheads this year Image

I had the same problems with my older Logitech mouse. It meant I had to navigate Windows with the keyboard Image! I downloaded the latest drivers and voila, working.

Well guys I still cant get this @&^# thing to work right. Im lost on it....I really want to use win ME,my 3dmark test scores increased by 300 points.

But ya Battleship the reg settings im speaking about are just for normal removal of mouse drivers...but I go and remove the settings manualy if they are still present. As for my mouse speed I have windows maxed with no acceleration on, as in the game Q2 its set to 7.

PS/2 is not a option for me I find it way to slow.

Well I dont want to give this mouse up but it looks like I have too :^( unless someone has anymore Ideas for me or heard of any fixes.

Ya I did give that a try but it still was mess'in up......thats why I think its a driver issue of some form.

CRoZZ,

I guess you don't know that you can crank up the PS/2 port to 200Mhz. If you think that is slow then life is a box of chocolates for you.
