PSP or DS?

Post by mountainman »

I've played neither but am looking to pick one up for my son (and maybe myself, now and again). We're going to be spending a lot of quality time in the car over the next couple weeks and then much more after that in the ROckies.

So... what are your thoughts? I've done the searches and they both seem to be good, but I'm looking for some other opinions.

I'm leaning towards the PSP.

Now I’m completely lost (which isn’t uncommon). I thought he was talking about game consoles but you post tennis shoes. So which is it?

PSP - You can softmod them, and flash bios to allow games to be played from the memory card. Also allows homebrew code.

If this is for the kid mostly then I say the DS. More games for him to get into.

Depends on how old he is...I don't think you can go wrong with either but IMO the PSP and the games are aimed more towards to the older kids.

Ahh... yes, he's four.

I like the fact we can play movies and such on it too.

FWIW - The kid can whip through Lego Batman and Indiana Jones on PS3. LOL

The DS is a social game system. Most kids have a DS so it's easy for them to play with or against eachother in versus mode. Nintendo has the right mix of kids games that are appropriate for a 4 yr old child. My kid has one and so does the entire lot of neighborhood kids.

Ahhh... so it's a lot of ad-hoc wireless networking play between the game systems? That's nice.

I've not really played or seen either, so it's going to be a tough choice.

Thanks, all.

Yes, in most cases, only one person needs the physical game and they act as the host.
